Here's to the 4th.
In celebration of this holiday, I have a couple of gifts to share.
A peaceful getaway.
A beautiful duet.
A Smile.
A Margarita that is 37 calories per serving. ( your welcome, ladies)
And a few words that can mean so much.
So lets raise a Skinny Girl Margarita to the weekend ahead, and to a freedom that we may never, ever take for granted.
Here's to the 4th. And here's to you.
Love,
Me.

Paintings by Chagall
Many inspirations in my designs come from my love for great art and the artists who create it. Although I have many favorites, Marc Chagall never fails to captivate me.
Born in Russia in 1887 to a Jewish family, his Post- Impressionist style and colorful romantic life transfers to his dreamlike canvas. In later years, having fled the Nazi's, he uses his art to fight back and send a message of equality for his people who, at the time, had lost their voice. Most apparent in his works is a story of love-- A love for color and imagination, a love for his people and a love for a woman with whom he spent the greater part of his life.
It is easy to fall victim to love at first sight.
So get ready to fall hard.
Three Candles
Claire De Lune
The White Christ

Just a Ride
As I was on the way home the other day, I saw a car much like this one pass me-- a Mom driving and her little daughter in the back seat-- top down and ice cream cones in hand.
So naturally, I made up a story about where they were going ( a road trip to Savannah), what they were going to be doing( running a bed and breakfast that the mother inherited from an old Aunt Mildred) and what music they would listen to on the way.
And EVERY BIT of me wanted to go too.
I guess their playlist will have to suffice.

Springish
Spring is here!
I'm a small town East Texas girl who now presides in one of the biggest cities in Texas, and sometimes, I miss home. I miss not having to lock my door during the day. I miss going on walks and seeing people who I've known since birth. And I miss the East Texas Spring--A lot.
There are simply not enough flowers outdoors where I live now. So, I'm getting inspired to bring floral indoors to make my life a little more colorful.
For those of you who feel the same, maybe this will put a little Spring in your step.
Happy Spring, Everyone.

Love Remains
AFRICA.
I went recently on a mission trip with my friends organization called Arise Africa to Lusaka, Zambia.
I have been meaning to post about my journey there, but the real world has pulled me away from writing. So...I am now sitting down. I am now at my computer. And I am now going to tell you as best I can of a life changing experience in a beautiful country. It is a country where death is not far away, but where living life to the fullest is not hard to do. And where the people seemingly don't have anything, but a better look reveals they have everything. A country where I learned the true meaning of Faith, Sacrifice, and most of all--Love.
Of all the things that we gave these people on our trip: new classrooms, supplies, clothing, food--nothing could repay what they gave us. We were everyone's family for two weeks, accepted and loved unconditionally. I will now live with the understanding of what it means to live like there is no tomorrow. And to know--to really know-- that this life is so temporary, and that God's love for us and our love for others what matters most.
" Now these three remain: Faith, Hope and Love--but the Greatest of these is Love."-I Corinthians 13:13
